On Saturday, students organized a crowd at the Guntur Flash railway station to raise awareness of the harmful plastic effects within the ongoing World Campaign campaign from 22 May to 5 June.
Approximately 50 children danced for the song of Ecological Consciousness Tik Tik Plastic, attractive to the public to reduce the use of plastics, especially disposable objects, and switched to environmental alternatives such as fabric bags.
The young participants included children from families and local communities. Divisional Railway Manager Guntur (DRM) Sudeshna Dream said that children had previously taken a promise to stop using plastic and encourage others around them to do the same. As part of the DRM SEN Campaign and railway staff, Jute’s bags gave passengers and promoted the message of sustainability.
“Take your own bottle of water. Say no on plastic with one use. And stop using plastic,” Drm said. She noted that such an effort, though small, could lead to a meaningful change. The involvement of children, added, shows that the younger generation is ready to take the lead in environmental protection.
