Why Air India, Air India Express temporarily suspend flights to and from Jeddah, Riyadh and Dammam till 24 October 2026 | Today’s news

Air India and Air India Express have extended the suspension of flights to three Saudi cities. Services to and from Jeddah, Riyadh and Dammam remain suspended until October 24.

The decision extends an earlier pause that was set to end on October 17. Passengers should check their flight status before leaving for the airport as timetables are subject to change.

Air India’s advisory cites the prevailing situation without naming any specific incident.

The suspension is linked to strikes by Houthi rebels in Saudi Arabia. Reported attacks by Yemen’s Houthi rebels follow security concerns. Air India confirmed its decision in its advisory.

“In view of the prevailing situation, Air India and Air India Express have temporarily suspended flights to and from Jeddah, Riyadh and Dammam by October 24, 2026,” the statement said.

“We understand that these disruptions may affect our guests’ travel plans and are committed to providing as much flexibility as possible during this period,” he added.

The services reportedly remain subject to further security assessments. This means the suspension may continue longer if conditions do not improve. Passengers should avoid assuming that flights will automatically resume after a suspension period.

Both airlines have offered relief for eligible passengers. Confirmed bookings issued on or before 15 October qualify as per the terms and conditions notified. These bookings must include travel dates during the 9-25 October

Eligible travelers can make a one-time change of date without a change fee. The adjusted travel date can be as late as November 10.

Passengers also have the option to choose another station served by their airline. This alternative must be located in the Gulf Cooperation Council region and is subject to availability. Air India passengers can rebook to or from Dubai or Doha.

Passengers whose flights have been canceled can request a full refund if they choose not to travel. Customer care teams and booking offices can help you with options. Passengers can seek assistance through offices in India and the Persian Gulf.

Other Indian airlines have also extended blackouts involving destinations in Saudi Arabia. IndiGo has extended flight cancellations till October 24.

Akasa Air was also suspended Services in Riyadh until October 24. Its suspension of flights to and from Jeddah lasts until October 21.

Interruption of travel

The disruption affects Indians traveling for work, family visits and religious purposes. Saudi Arabia has a large Indian workforce, so these routes are important for many families.

A long layoff could disrupt travel and require passengers to reconsider their travel arrangements. Those considering alternative routes should check availability before finalizing their plans.

The airlines say they are monitoring developments and will inform passengers of the changes. Travelers should check the official channels of Air India and Air India Express. Updated information remains important as flight schedules can change at short notice.
