
Odisha Vigilance Department on Friday made searches in seven places across Odisha in the premises allegedly associated with the main engineer of Odisha Rural Works and approximately recovered £2.1 Crore in cash.
In the main anti -corruption intervention, the team of vigilance attacked the premises associated with Baikuntha Nath Sarangi about the accusation of the disproportionate possession of assets.
Officials have recovered £1 crore from his apartment in Bhubaneswar and around £1.1 Crore from his residence in Angulu. The ongoing operations are still ongoing, the Vigilance Odisha officials said.
The department also shared details of their findings on social media.

“Sarangi threw cash bundles out of the window”
According to the Ministry of Vigilance Sarangi threw volumes £500 notes from the window of his BhubaneSwar apartment noticed the presence of the search team. Vigilance officials later received cash in the presence of witnesses.

Vigilance of Odisha captures another official
In a separate incident, Odisha captured the Vigilance of the Assistant Executive Engineer Pabitra Mohan Panigrahi of the Chitrakond block in the Malkangiri district in April. Seized cash £15 Lakh, who was suspected of being bad.
The Odisha Vigilance team, who worked on trustworthy intelligence entries on the alleged collection of bribes from suppliers, captured Panigrahi near Gobindapally Chowk while traveling from his government residence in Chitrakonda to Bhubaneswar in the car vehicle from O-30-E-3096. At that time he reportedly rose.
Officials recovered after capturing £5.07 Lakh in cash from Panigrahi’s ownership. Another search in his government neighborhoods in Chitrakonda led to recovery £10 Lakh more in cash. Given that Panigrahi did not provide a satisfactory explanation of the confiscated amount, the Vigilance team confiscated the entire cash.
Subsequently, there are searches in two other premises associated with Panigrahi from a disproportionate angle of assets. It is currently asked about the source of renewed funds.
Further investigation is underway and a detailed report is expected.
