Minister Vivek Venkatswamy reviews paddy procurement in Mancherial

Labor Minister G. Vivek Venkatswamy assured farmers that the state government would procure every grain of rice they produced and warned that the government would not tolerate attempts to provoke farmers for political gains.

The Minister visited several paddy shopping centers in Mancherial district on Thursday along with officials from District Collector Anudeep and Civil Supplies Department. He reviewed the procurement process and interacted with farmers during his visit.

He said rice production was significantly higher this season. While around 1.10 lakh tonnes of rice was procured during the previous season, the government aims to continue the supply till June 6 and procure nearly 1.70 lakh tonnes this time.

He said that three warehouses have been set up in Peddapalli district to store rice. Although there have been some delays due to shortage of hamalis and unavailability of trucks, the government has taken steps to resolve the issues. Singareni was also asked to provide additional trucks.

Condemning BRS leader Balk Suman’s comments, the minister said the former MLA was acting out of frustration after people rejected her. He noted that during the previous BRS government, hundreds of trucks were stranded, while now such situations do not prevail.

The minister warned that the government will not tolerate attempts to take the law into its own hands for political drama.

Referring to Mr. Suman’s statement that he had spent ₹100 crore during the previous elections, the minister demanded that he explain to the public where the money was coming from. He further said that Mr. Suman owes an apology to the people of Telangana.
