Paperless registration mandatory for some family arrangement documents from 2 November
As part of the second phase of Registration Anywhere under the STAR (Simplified and Transparent Administration of Registration) 3.0 system, the Tamil Nadu government has given administrative sanction to mandate paperless registration of certain family relationship documents from November 2.
A Government Order (GO) to this effect was issued by the Commercial Taxes and Registration Department on Wednesday. According to the GO, settlement deeds, release deeds, partition deeds and cancellation of settlement deeds related to family arrangements will be recorded paperless to ensure convenience and transparency to citizens and to reduce manual handling of documents.
As per the arrangement, the digitally executed deeds will be sent to the sub-registrar through the online registration facility along with the required supporting documents.
The Registration Department processes these documents and the parties then appear before the concerned Sub-Registrar for identification, verification and completion of the prescribed registration formalities.
After completing all the formalities, the registered document is digitally processed and sent to the citizen’s login name. It will be retained in the STAR system.
The state government has already ordered absentee registration of deeds relating to the first sale of land by land developers and the first sale of flats by builders, along with the gradual filing of title deeds and for the filing of title deeds and acceptance certificates submitted by banks and other financial institutions.
