The rain relaxed slightly in Nilgirice, although tourist places remained closed on the fifth day of a row on Thursday.
While the district recorded the average 40 mm precipitation from Wednesday in the evening to Thursday morning, on Thursday it significantly reduced, allowing TNEb officials to start working to restore strength to Udhagamandalam, Gudaluru and Kundha Taluks, which were left without electricity due to fallen trees and electric poles.
The work also continued to restore operation along Udhagamandalam on the Gudalur Road, which was closed for irrelevant vehicles due to the potential risks of the fall of the rock near Naduvatam.
The Nilgiris District Administration said that more than 300 people have been temporarily moved to ensure their safety. Work was also done to remove fallen trees throughout the district.
