The RPF has cracked down on the illegal booking of e-tickets on railways

The Railway Protection Force (RPF) of South Western Railways has cracked down on illegal e-ticketing activities in Mysuru and Hassan.
As part of an anti-vagrancy operation in Mysuru, a person involved in illegal railway e-ticket booking has been identified based on information received from RPF Bengaluru Cyber Cell. “During the investigation, 21 railway e-tickets and a mobile phone with a total value of ₹ 66,591 were discovered and seized,” a press statement said on Thursday, adding that necessary legal proceedings had been initiated.
In another incident, RPF Hassan raided a travel agency in Hassan as part of Operation Upalabdh, an initiative to curb illegal ticketing, and detected illegal activities related to railway e-ticket bookings using personal IRCTC ID. “Railway tickets, electronic devices and other related materials worth ₹83,837 have been seized and legal action has been initiated,” the statement said.
Meanwhile, the RPF has conducted several operations and awareness drives to ensure passenger safety, security and vigilance across railway campuses, the statement said.
As part of ‘Operation Amanat’, a wallet containing cash and important cards, lost by a passenger in Train No. 11311, Coach B2, was safely recovered by RPF personnel at Hassan Station and later handed over to the complainant’s brother after proper verification.
Similarly, as part of Operation Satark, RPF personnel detected an abandoned suspected polythene bag in train No. 17310 near Shivani station. On inspection by excise officials, the bag was found to contain eight bottles of illegal liquor totaling 8.5 liters worth ₹4,475. Liquor bottles have been secured for further precautions, the statement said.
One unauthorized passenger was detected under ‘Samay Palan’ pulling the alarm chain in Train No. 16222 Mysuru–Talaguppa Express at Birur station, causing two minutes delay in train movement. Necessary measures have been taken in this regard.
As part of ‘Jan Jagaran’, RPF personnel at Shivamogga station conducted a special awareness drive among passengers regarding the dangers of carrying flammable articles while traveling in trains and on railway premises. Passengers have been advised to avoid carrying such hazardous materials for a safe journey, the statement said.
