PM meets Asian Games medal winners, honors athletes after 85 medal draw

Prime Minister Narendra Modi met the Indian medal winners from the Asian Games held in Japan along with Sports Minister Mansukh Mandaviya. India secured a total of 85 medals at the Games, including 21 gold, 27 silver and 37 bronze medals, taking the country’s Asian Games total past 800 medals. Several gold medals were secured in categories where India had not won gold before. The contingent included numerous female athletes, boxers and wrestlers, many from small towns and rural areas across the country.
