Former Minister and Deputy Leader of BRS Legislature Party T. Harish Rao alleged that the Congress government is not providing even eight hours of uninterrupted power supply to agriculture and a diary kept at Gattu substation in Jogulamba-Gadwal district is a testimony to this.
During a visit to the substation on Wednesday, he went through the power data recorded in the diary and clearly stated that the farm’s connections were powered for 7 hours 50 minutes on October 13 with three interruptions.
He said that consumers in urban areas and industrial category consumers were provided adequate power while farmers were supplied only for a few hours and that too at low voltage. Earlier, Mr. Harish Rao along with the party leaders visited the agricultural fields where crops withered due to irregular power supply.
Mr. Harish Rao said that the coming days will be even worse for the farm sector as the government has transferred all farm connections to the new Discom and allocated 85% of the required power from solar and hydroelectric sources. While solar power would only be available during the day, hydel power was purely seasonal, which could only be generated when there was enough water in the reservoirs.

During a visit to Induvasi village to console the families whose members died in a road accident near Yadgir in Karnataka while seeking wage work there, two of them died and two sustained serious injuries, he demanded that the state government announce an ex-gratia payment of ₹10,000 each to the families of the deceased for not providing wage employment here and forcing them to migrate.
He said that their government (BRS) has completed 80% of the major works of the Palamuru-Rangareddy irrigation scheme but the Congress government has failed to complete the remaining works. Completion of minor works in Package 3 this year would enable 50 tmc ft of water to be lifted to fill online and buffer tanks as reservoirs, tunnels, pumping stations and substations have been completed in the past.
Neighboring Andhra Pradesh has been drawing Krishna water from the Srisailam reservoir to areas 700 km away outside the basin, but the Telangana government has failed to utilize the water despite having a network, he said.
