Anti-CEC protest highlights: Anti-SIR protests rock Delhi for fifth day, hundreds detained

A new common platform against SIR has emerged, a nationwide agitation planned for October 23

Organizations opposing the Special Intensive Review (SIR) created a common platform at the meeting, activist Tara Rao said. “People were on the streets, now we will start our fight with a wider presence going forward… we will ensure that we work at all levels, from the top down to the villages, and prove the SIR wrong,” she said, criticizing the police response to the protests since July as “barbaric” and demanding the scrapping of the SIR along with the resignation of CEC Gyanesh Kumar.

Rajan Kshirsagar, leader of the All India Kisan Sabha, said that more than 100 youth, labor and farmers’ organizations, which met on Wednesday, will launch a nationwide agitation on October 23, 2026 demanding the abolition of SIR, resignation of Mr. Kumar and audit of cleared names. – Hindu
