KTR blames Congress for weakening SCCL

Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) working president KT Rama Rao on Wednesday accused the Congress government of weakening the Singareni Collieries Company Limited (SCCL) and trying to hand it over to big corporations.

At a public meeting of ‘Singareni Karmika Garjana’ at Godavarikhani in Peddapalli district on Wednesday evening, Mr. Rao accused the Congress government in Telangana and the BJP-led government at the Center of undermining the interests of SCCL and its employees.

Mr. Rao alleged that the SCCL faced mismanagement and irregularities under the Congress regime.

Claiming that about ₹60,000 crore was due to SCCL from the state government, he cited alleged delays in finalizing overburden (OB) tenders and site visit certification conditions among the issues affecting the company’s operations.

He accused Union Coal Minister G Kishan Reddy of not responding to BRS’s complaints of alleged irregularities in SCCL.

Mr. Rao said that BRS President and former Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao had pledged to protect SCCL and its workforce.

He also recalled the role of Singaren workers in the Telangana movement, especially in the 42-day Sakala Janula Samme.
