President Droupadi Murmu worships at the Goddess Kanaka Durga Temple in Vijayawada

President Droupadi Murmu at the Goddess Kanaka Durga Temple in Vijayawada on Wednesday.

President Droupadi Murmu had darshan of Goddess Kanaka Durga at Sri Durga Malleswara Swamy Varla Devasthanam here on Wednesday.

The temple priests offered her the traditional Rajagopuram welcome. She said special prayers in the temple.

She was received by Vijayawada MP Kesineni Sivanath (Chinni), Home Minister Vangalapudi Anita, devasthanam board chairman Borra Radhakrishna and others. Temple Executive Director VK Seena Naik presented her with a photograph of the presiding deity and laddu prasadam.

Ms. Murmu had earlier arrived at Gannavaram Airport from Delhi in a special plane. She was received by Governor S. Abdul Nazeer, Union Ministers K. Paswan and Pemmasani Chandra Sekhar, State Ministers Nara Lokesh, Ms. Anitha and Kollu Ravindra, MP Vallabhaneni Balashowry and State BJP President PVN Madhav among others. Later she traveled by road to Vijayawada.

On Thursday, Ms. Murmu will inaugurate the SARAS Mela (Sale of Rural Artisans Society), jointly organized by the Government of Andhra Pradesh and the Department of Rural Development under the Deendayal Antyodaya Yojana – National Rural Livelihood Mission at Punnami Ghat. Later she was to have lunch with members of SHGs / Lakhpati Didis.
