AIADMK remains united, returns party rule in Tamil Nadu: SP Velumani

AIADMK remains united and our only aim is to bring the party back to power, former minister and AIADMK Thondamuthur MLA SP Velumani said on Thursday (May 28, 2026).

Speaking to the media in Coimbatore, he said that the party is his breath and that Edappadi K. Palaniswami is the general secretary of the party. He also criticized the media and YouTube channels for creating the impression that the MLA section led by him and C.Ve. Shanmugam backed TVK to power.

“We decided to support TVK during the confidence vote because it was the will of the people for the party to rule and get a strong mandate,” he said. Even TVK made it clear that neither he nor Mr Shanmugam made any claims to share power with the party.

He added that Mr Shanmugam is in touch with him. The lawmaker also made it clear that he and the party will reflect the sentiments of the cadre.

AIADMK ruled the state for 31 years but faced defeat. However, the party should overcome this and return to power. The AIADMK will continue to strive to fulfill the promises it made in its election manifesto, he said.
