18 years in Dubai, 2 years trying his luck: Punjabi truck driver wins ₹1.23 crore in UAE lottery; here is what he said | Today’s news

A 53-year-old truck driver from Punjab, who has lived in Dubai for 18 years, won Dh500,000 (approx. ₹1.23 crore) in Abu Dhabi Big Ticket’s Series 291, Gulf News reported. He was among five Indian expatriates who collectively received consolation prizes worth Dh1.95 million (around ₹4.78 million crowns).

Kulwant Singh, who lives with his family in Dubai’s Jebel Ali area, has been buying Big Ticket tickets for about two years. His monthly participation with a group of five friends finally paid off in the last draw.

Another winner, Muhammed Ijas C., a 30-year-old engineer from Kerala, won Dh100,000 (approx. ₹24.5 million), the report says.

Kulwant has lived in Jebel Ali since 2008. He said he watched the Big Ticket through online videos for years before deciding to participate about two years ago.

What started as an attempt to try my luck gradually became a monthly routine with five friends. For his latest post, Kulwant picked a ticket at random, not knowing it would net the group a prize of Dh500,000 (approx. ₹1.23 billion crowns).

“I was very happy when I found out we won. We buy tickets together every month, so it was an amazing feeling when I finally got the good news,” he said.

The winnings will be divided between the groups. Kulwant said he intends to do his bit for the needs of his family and their home.

“I want to use the money for my family and for our home,” he said.

He also intends to continue participating in upcoming Big Ticket draws.

The engineer’s winning number inspired by his son’s birthday

Muhammed Ijas, who has lived in Ajman with his family for seven years, won Dh100,000 (approx. ₹24.5 lakh) with the number selected for personal reason.

An engineer from Kerala came across Big Ticket on Instagram and YouTube about six months ago. Subsequently, he started entering the draw with a group of 10 people.

For the winning entry, Muhammed combined his son’s birth date and birth year to pick a number.

“It was one of the most special moments for me. I picked the number based on my son’s birthday, so finding out we won made it even more meaningful,” he said.

The prize will be split between the group and Muhammed said everyone was pleased with the result.

“Everyone in our group is so happy. This win gives us all a bit of hope and that’s what makes it special,” he said.

Muhammed said he already had in mind the purpose of his share of the prize, to spend it on his son. “I want to spend them on my son.

He also confirmed that he and his group plan to continue participating in future Big Ticket draws.
