Trinamool Congress MP Kakoli Ghosh Dastidar has complained to Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla and accused party colleague Kalyan Banerjee of verbal abuse in Parliament and misogynistic behavior towards women MPs.

In her letter to the Speaker, Ms. Ghosh Dastidar demanded action against Mr. Banrjeem. “I seek your permission to file a formal complaint for redressal against AITC Lok Sabha member Kalyan Banerjee who repeatedly verbally abused me in the Lok Sabha. This misogyny was against many members and must be punished,” West Bengal MP Barasat wrote in the letter.

Neither Mr. Banerjee nor the TMC leadership immediately responded to the complaint.

This comes barely a day after the four-term Barasat MP quit all organizational posts in the TMC and launched a stinging political vendetta against sections of the party leadership.

However, she continues to be a Barasat MP, which she won on a TMC ticket.

Mr. Banerjee, a four-time MP from Sreerampur and one of the party’s most combative MPs, has often courted controversy over his remarks and confrontations with political opponents and colleagues alike.
