Smriti Mandhana retains the top spot in the ICC rankings after being named India’s captain

Newly appointed Indian captain Smriti Mandhana maintained her position at the top of the ICC women’s ODI batting rankings, while Australia’s Ellyse Perry returned to the top 10 in the latest rankings update released on Tuesday.

Mandhana leads the ODI batting charts with 790 runs after that recently took over the captaincy from Harmanpreet Kaur. The left-arm opener remains India’s highest-placed batsman in the format, with Harmanpreet the only other Indian to feature in the top 10 at number nine.

Mandhana’s continued presence at the summit comes as she begins her tenure as India’s captain, with the team looking to build on her performances across formats. Perry’s return to the top 10 was another notable development in the latest update.

DEEPTI’S RATING SLIP

In the women’s ODI bowling rankings, India’s Deepti Sharma slipped one place to ninth. Meanwhile, Australians Annabel Sutherland and Megan Schutt improved their positions and moved into the top five.

Deepti continues to top the charts in several categories and remains among India’s leading artists in the charts. However, her movement in the ODI bowling charts was one of the changes in the latest update.

India also had three batsmen in the top 10 of the women’s T20I batting rankings. Shafali Verma was the highest placed Indian at fourth position with 759 points while Mandhana occupied the fifth position with 754 points. Harmanpreet completed India’s representation in the top 10, sitting at 10th place with 656 points.

The rankings underscore India’s strong position in the shorter format, with three of their batsmen among the leading players in women’s T20I cricket.

CHARANI LEADS T20I BOWLER

India’s Shree Charani topped the women’s T20I bowling rankings with 817 points while Deepti Sharma took the second spot with 754 points. The Indian pair held on to the top two positions in the category, giving the country a strong presence among the top bowlers in the format.

Deepti was also India’s only representative in the top 10 of the women’s T20I all-rounders rankings, where she was fourth. She occupied the sixth position in the ODI all-rounder rankings.

India ranked third in the women’s ODI and T20I team rankings in the last update.

WITH Mandhana retains the top spot in ODI batting Shortly after being named captain, Indian players continue to feature prominently in the individual rankings. The latest update also highlights the squad’s depth in T20I batting and bowling, with several players ranking among the top names in their respective categories.
