The Kodag district experienced heavy rains at 8:30 on Monday at 8:30 in the morning and recorded average 126.79 mm precipitation, which is a significant increase compared to just 0.05 mm on the same day last year. The authorities issued a warning because more rain is predicted in the coming days.
This year’s cumulative precipitation from January to date is 449.84 mm – higher than 325.40 mm recorded in the same period last year.
Madikeri Taluk recorded 143.30 mm of precipitation on Monday, while on the same day he saw no rainfall last year. Taluk has so far received 657.83 mm this year. Virajpet Taluk registered 155.30 mm, with a year reaching 500.80 mm. Ponnampet Taluk received 120.28 mm, thus its year -on -year rainfall at 420.96 mm. Somwarpet Taluk announced 112.65 mm, against 0.25 mm last year. Kusklagar Taluk recorded 102.40 mm, with cumulative precipitation reached 353.04 mm, slightly higher than 351.50 mm last year.
The following precipitation (in mm) follows: Bhagamandala-225, Madikeri-169, Out-162.20, Virajpet-157.60, Ammathi, Srimangala-153, Shantalli-154, Somwarepet-116 and Suntikop-128.20. Other areas such as Shanivarasante, Bale, Kodlipet and Kushalnagar received between 76 mm and 111 mm.
Harangi tank has witnessed a significant increase in water levels due to continuous rains. The current level is 2,834.70 feet compared to 2,824.11 feet on the same day last year. The tank has seen 63.60 mm of precipitation in the last 24 hours. The full level of the tank is 2,859 feet.
Strong rains led to several incidents of damage throughout the district. The trees were rooted, collapsed houses, electricity poles and power cables were damaged according to Srimangal and Somwarpet reports.
Deputy Commissioner Venkataraja visited the areas affected by the rain in Kushalnagar and Virajpet and issued instructions to ensure the safety of the population and prevent further damage. He also inspected the damaged wall wall of the Morarji Desai school in the army, which was beaten by heavy rain.
Mantar Gowda, Mla, traveled affected regions and ensured support for the affected.
When Monsoun arrived earlier and more intensively than last year, district officials were asked to watch the situation carefully. Residents of low -laid and vulnerable areas are recommended to remain vigilant.
