The National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) has started construction of a vehicular flyover (VOP) at Sadahalli Junction on NH-44 (Airport Road) in Bengaluru to improve traffic flow and connectivity towards Kempegowda International Airport and Andhra Pradesh.

“The project is aimed at facilitating vehicular movement at the busy junction, which caters to commuters to the airport and neighboring regions. The flyover, when completed, is expected to facilitate smoother traffic, improve traffic efficiency and strengthen road connectivity along the corridor,” an NHAI official said.

According to NHAI, the project is scheduled to be completed by mid-2027, subject to weather and geological conditions. The Bengaluru Traffic Police Department has granted the necessary clearances to divert traffic and carry out construction work. Commuters traveling through Sadahalli Junction may experience traffic jams and diversions during the construction period due to ongoing works and changes in traffic movement.

In view of the construction, NHAI has advised motorists to exercise caution when approaching the work zone and follow designated traffic diversions and traffic boards. The NHAI has also urged the commuters to follow the instructions issued by the traffic police and follow the traffic rules to ensure safe and orderly movement of the areas.

“The construction of the flyover is expected to improve traffic efficiency at the junction, especially for vehicles traveling from Hebbal towards Kempegowda International Airport and Andhra Pradesh,” the official added.

The project fulfills a long-term demand of local residents and commuters, especially those traveling to the airport. According to NHAI, more than 1.1 million vehicles pass through the Sadahalli toll plaza every day. The toll plaza, which is located a short distance from the intersection where construction is underway, serves a busy traffic corridor. Sadahalli Junction is the only traffic light on the main road along the 22 km stretch between Hebbal and Sadahalli.
