The Telangana government has taken a decision to reconsider the common mobility card charges for the Hyderabad Metro-TGSRTC services. Transport Minister Ponnam Prabhakar on Monday (October 12, 2026) said that the feedback and ground level situation is being looked into after receiving many complaints from the people.
A joint mobility card for travel on Hyderabad Metro Rail and Telangana State Road Transport Corporation (TGSRTC) buses was launched on 2 October 2026. A monthly pass costs ₹8,500, including Hyderabad Metro Rail’s share of ₹7,000 and TGSRTC’s share of ₹1,500. A day ticket cost ₹400, including a ₹300 share on the Hyderabad Metro Rail and Rs. 100 of TGSRTC. Soon after the launch, people and activists say the charges are steep and unrealistic.
It was recently mentioned in these columns that critics said the passport does not include the Multi-Modal Transport System (MMTS) and last-mile connectivity provided by shared cars, shuttles and other delivery modes.
The transport minister said the government does not intend to burden people with excessive fees. A meeting will be held with senior officials to decide. He said people’s opinion will be taken into account to arrive at the day’s decision.
