Congress march, Oct 12: Is travel from Noida, Gurugram to Delhi affected today? Check key transport routes, border status | Today’s news

Commuters traveling from Noida and Gurugram to Delhi on Monday, October 12 are likely to face significant delays and diversions as the Delhi Traffic Police tightens security and regulation on key corridors. The curbs are a response to the Congress Party’s call for a protest march towards the Supreme Court.

The diversions are expected to be in effect from 6:00 AM on Monday, with traffic movement primarily regulated or restricted through New Delhi and Central Delhi depending on real-time law and order developments.

Why is Congress marching on the Supreme Court?

The planned march is part of the growing agitation by opposition parties over alleged irregularities in the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls and their persistent demand for the removal of Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) Gyanesh Kumar.

Opposition MPs and leaders of several constituent parties of the INDIA bloc are expected to attend the march to register their protest. The demonstration follows a direct appeal by the Leader of the Opposition in the Lok Sabha, Rahul Gandhi, on Sunday, who called on youth, civil society groups and opposition forces to march together to the Supreme Court, rallying them with the cry of “Daro mat” (Don’t be afraid).

The march continues even as Chief Justice of India (CJI) Surya Kant rejected the INDIA Bloc delegation’s request for a face-to-face meeting to submit a memorandum regarding alleged irregularities in the electoral roll.

CJI Kant clarified that since the related issues are already sub judice, the leaders should seek redressal by filing the relevant petition in the court.

Advice for daily commuters, airport and rail passengers

Authorities have urged the public to avoid unnecessary travel across Central and Delhi during the day.

For passengers heading to Indira Gandhi International Airport, railway terminals or Inter-State Bus Terminals (ISBTs), the traffic police issued a cautionary note: “If you are heading to railway stations, ISBTs or airports via New Delhi and Central Delhi, please allow extra time.

The advisory stressed that route management would remain flexible: “Traffic management measures are dynamic and will be relaxed or regulated based on real-time ground assessment.”

People commuting to the capital from Noida via DND Flyway or Kalindi Kunj and from Gurugram via Sarhaul border should expect spillover delays near central feeders and plan alternate passages accordingly.
