An Indian national was killed while at least 10 others were among more than 300 injured in an attack at Saudi Arabia’s Riyadh International Airport, the Indian embassy said on Sunday (Oct 11, 2026).
IMIM President Asaduddin Owaisi said a man from Hyderabad was killed and three members of his family were injured in the Riyadh airport attack.
“The family hails from Mehdipatnam in Hyderabad,” he said in a post on X.
“Yousuf sahab has been confirmed to have died in the attack. Innalilahi wa inna ilahir rajioon. His son is undergoing knee surgery, another son is in hospital and his 3 toes have been amputated. His daughter and wife are safe. His aunt (chachi) was with them and sustained head injuries but is out of danger. I am in touch with Riyadsinh and brother Riyadsouf. He assured me that they are taking care,” Mr Owaisi said in post X.
The Indian Embassy in Riyadh expressed its condolences to the family of the deceased and said: “We are in touch with the family and will provide all support to ensure the early repatriation of the remains.”
Mr Owaisi confirmed that the family hailed from Mehdipatnam in Hyderabad and sought the help of External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar.
In a social media post, the embassy in Riyadh said at least 10 Indians were among the more than 300 injured in the attack.
The embassy said it was monitoring the “vile attack” at Riyadh airport and was in contact with local authorities to inquire about their welfare.
The attack was the latest of several attacks targeting the airport in the past week. Among the dead were four Saudi citizens, two Bangladeshi citizens, a Palestinian, a US citizen, an Egyptian, a Jordanian, a Syrian and a Sudanese.
India on Sunday (Oct 11, 2026) strongly condemned the incident, saying repeated attacks on civilians and civilian infrastructure in the Gulf country were “totally unacceptable and must stop immediately”.
“We strongly condemn the repeated attacks on the King Khalid International Airport in Riyadh over the past few days, including the dastardly attack on October 10, which resulted in loss of life, injuries and damage to property,” the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) said in a statement.
“We offer our condolences to the families of the deceased and wish the injured a speedy recovery,” it said.
Saudi Arabia blamed the attack on Houthi militants.
“We stand in solidarity with the people and government of Saudi Arabia in defending their sovereignty and hope that peace and normalcy will return to the region as soon as possible,” the MEA said.
In view of the security situation, the Indian Embassy on Thursday issued an advisory to all Indian nationals in Saudi Arabia to remain alert and vigilant, stay indoors as necessary and follow the instructions issued by local authorities.
