Permanent house titles distributed to 939 families in Nellore
Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu on Sunday virtually launched the distribution of permanent home titles to beneficiaries at Sarvepalli Katta in Nellore from his camp office, fulfilling the long-held housing aspirations of 939 families.
The coalition government has granted permanent tenure rights to eligible poor families over 22.31 acres of land worth around ₹600 crore, an official release said.
The Chief Minister congratulated the recipients who received the degrees back home and expressed happiness at the fulfillment of their long-standing aspirations.
Municipal Administration and Urban Development Minister P. Narayana and Nellore District Collector Himanshu Shukla attended the program held in Nellore. Mr. Narayana handed over the home titles to the recipients.
Of the 939 beneficiaries, 701 were women, reflecting the government’s emphasis on empowering women and strengthening their property rights, the report said.
The beneficiaries expressed their gratitude to the Chief Minister for facilitating the distribution of permanent house titles. Several women reported that the allotment brought them good luck ahead of the Dasara festivities, describing it as an early festive gift for their families.
They also said that social security programs implemented by the coalition government provide significant support to economically disadvantaged households.
Mr. Narayana informed the Chief Minister that the recipients were delighted after decades of waiting for the title. He also said that steps are being taken to complete the pending TIDCO housing projects and hand them over to the eligible beneficiaries as soon as possible.
The government has also decided to distribute house titles to eligible poor families in the Jafar Sahib Canal area of Nellore in the near future, the report said.
House titles covering 36 acres of land were distributed to 1,407 families in Bhagat Singh Colony in the previous year.
Mr. Himanshu Shukla said that around 2,600 house titles have been distributed to poor families in Nellore city so far. He added that the administration is taking steps to provide permanent home ownership to another 4,000 poor families soon.
