A respite from the heat is expected at the weekend
The capital continued to sizzle on Wednesday (May 27, 2026) with a maximum temperature of 44.3 degrees Celsius. Meanwhile, parts of the city are likely to see “very light” to “light” rain on Thursday (May 2026), but the maximum temperature is still expected to remain at 42-44 degrees Celsius, according to the India Meteorological Department (IMD).
Delhi is expected to get some respite from the heat and more rains are expected on Friday (May 29, 2026), Saturday (May 30, 2026) and Sunday (May 31, 2026), bringing the maximum temperature down to 35-37 degrees Celsius.
On Wednesday (May 27, 2026), the Safdarjung weather station, considered the city’s representative observatory, recorded a maximum temperature of 44.3 degrees Celsius, 3.9 degrees above normal, and a minimum temperature of 26.2 degrees Celsius, 0.4 degrees below normal, according to the IMD.
