Ahead of the local body elections, officials of the police department have intensified Cardon and Search Operations (CASO) in several villages in Kadapa district. They warned of legal action against those who violate election guidelines.
Acting on the orders of SP Shelke Nachiket Vishwanath, the CASO was conducted in Moragudi village under the jurisdiction of Jammalamadugu Town Police Station. Officials screened suspicious persons and warned them not to engage in any untoward incident during the election.
Subsequently, police officers conducted foot patrols in the village to assure the public of their safety. During vehicle checks, the police seized 17 two-wheelers and five autorickshaws without proper documentation. They warned that they would be constantly watching.
Under the supervision of Pulivendula DSP B. Murali, CASO and foot patrols were conducted by police officers in Chinna Rangapuram, Velamavaripalli, Venkatapuram, Polepalli (Basireddypalli) and Brahmanapalli villages within Pulivendula city limits.
They monitored the movement of suspicious persons and raised awareness among the villagers about the elections, urging them to avoid quarrels and refrain from actions that could disrupt law and order.
The police warned that precautionary measures are being taken to prevent any illegal activity in the municipal council elections. They appealed to the public to cooperate with them in maintaining a peaceful atmosphere in the villages.
Meanwhile, the SP directed the management of hotels, lodges, hostels, homestays, paying guest accommodation facilities, hospitals, educational institutions, religious and charitable organizations and other accommodation facilities to provide details of foreigners on a designated online portal.
According to the Immigration and Foreigners Act, 2025, Immigration and Foreigners Rules, 2025 and Immigration and Foreigners Regulations, 2025, all establishments providing accommodation to OCI (Overseas Citizen of India) card holders must strictly follow the rules, he said.
“The details must be electronically registered as soon as possible after the foreigner’s arrival at the accommodation premises and under no circumstances later than 24 hours after the accommodation has been provided,” Mr Vishwanath further stated.
“Submission of Form III is mandatory under Section 8 of the Immigration and Foreigners Act, 2025. Failure to comply with these rules may lead to legal action, including a fine of ₹ 50,000 to ₹ 1 lakh depending on the nature of the violation and the relevant provisions of the Act,” he added.
Foreign nationals and OCI card holders must not engage in illegal activities such as obtaining identity documents intended exclusively for Indian citizens, registering voters without being legally eligible, participating in elections in violation of law or purchasing agricultural land.
