BJP accuses INDIA bloc, CJP of trying to destabilize the nation at the behest of foreign powers

The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Saturday launched a scathing attack on the Congress-led INDIA bloc and the Cockroach Janta Party (CJP), which it described as a “proxy for the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP). The BJP alleged that both groups were seeking to destabilize India at the behest of foreign powers, warning that such “sinister plans” to foment unrest would be met with a firm response.

“I warn you that the BJP and the patriotic people of the country will give you a befitting reply. The attempts you are making today to create unrest will be dealt with strongly by the Government of India. We will firmly face all such forces whether they are operating from abroad or within the country,” said BJP President Nitin Nabin.

BJP president Nitin Nabin stated that efforts are underway to create an extremely serious and dangerous situation in the country and said: “And who is doing this? They are two anarchist groups: one led by Rahul Gandhi, the leader of the INDIA block, and the other led by CJP, an ally of Arvind Kejriwal. I want to make it clear to the people of India that you are watching these groups closely.”

“This anarchic competition you are engaging in to see who can create the most instability in this country will not succeed. People have rejected both Rahul Gandhi’s INDIA block and Arvind Kejriwal and his CJP. Instead of learning from the people’s verdict, you are trying to destabilize the country. You are not doing this just to pursue your foreign policy goals, Mr. Nabin.

Questioning the language used against those holding the highest offices in the country, he said people who are rooted in Indian culture and committed to the Indian Constitution would never accept such behaviour. “You enforce your sell-out policy on the strength of foreign powers and conspire with them. However, your sinister intentions will never come to fruition,” he said.

“Challenging democracy through lies in the name of the constitution is an insult to the people’s mandate. The person elected by the people of this country is leading the country. Your behavior reflects your frustration at repeated electoral defeats,” Mr Nabin said.

He also said that the two groups are troubling India’s growth despite the ongoing global crisis and are unable to stomach the way the country is becoming self-reliant under Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

“During the last 12 years under Prime Minister Modi’s government, we have worked to bring this country out of an atmosphere of fear through attempts to eradicate terrorism and free the country from Naxalism. Yet some people with an urban Naxal mindset have tried to destabilize the country,” he said, adding that the BJP and the government would work to implement ‘Viksit Bharat’ in a peaceful atmosphere.

“Spreading a False Narrative”

Former Union minister Ravi Shankar Prasad told a press conference that the opposition wants to spread a false narrative that India’s democracy is not safe, especially as the country is making rapid economic progress under Mr. Modi. He described the CJP as a representative of the AAP and accused the Congress and its allies of arming the street protests.

He said the events of the last three to four days showed that Indian democracy had defeated attempts to foment anarchy and had established that the country would be ruled by parliament and not the streets. Pointing to the BJP’s election victory, which was the last of Friday’s exit poll results, he argued that the opposition had been rejected by voters and had “weaponized street protests” to compensate for its electoral defeats.

“These defeated and frustrated people have been troubling the people of Delhi for the last three or four days,” Mr. Prasad said.

The BJP leader said that the Opposition had earlier questioned the Electronic Voting Machines (EVMs) and was now opposing the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) mandated by the Act, even though it played a role in weeding out dead, duplicate and ineligible voters. He also accused Mr. Gandhi of disrespecting constitutional institutions and making false claims about his meeting with the President on Friday.

Countering the charge of “undeclared Emergency”, he said: “The whole history of Emergency, the history of your grandmother (former Prime Minister Indira Gandhi), is known to this country. When your grandmother’s elections were postponed, she declared Emergency to save her position because she did not get a stay from the Supreme Court.”

“Judges have been replaced and censorship has been imposed. Electricity has been cut off in all newspaper offices along Bahadur Shah Zafar Marg (New Delhi). Political parties have been banned… the nails of RSS volunteers have been pulled. So please don’t lecture us about the Emergency, we fought against it,” he said.
