Eight arrested for human trafficking and sexual exploitation of minor girl in Hyderabad

Eight persons, including four women, have been arrested by the Tolichowki police for trafficking a minor girl and forcing her into prostitution at a brothel in Attapur after she was abducted from Tolichowki last month.

The accused were caught on Friday (October 9) within 24 hours of the case being reported.

Tolichowki ACP Syed Fayaz said the arrested persons were identified as Shaik Atif, Sabiya Begum, Mohammed Hajimiya, Afreen alias Sana, Samreen Begum, Mohammed Nadeem, Mohammed Kaifuddin and Ali Bin Akram.

According to the officer, the girl was abducted by Atif in an autorickshaw from Tolichowki on September 2 and taken to Attapur where she was handed over to two women, Sana and Samreen.

“The women first tried to win the girl’s trust by promising her food and accommodation. Subsequently, they handed her over to Sabiya Begum, who ran a brothel near pillar number 200 in Attapur, in exchange for ₹30,000,” the officer said.

The amount was divided between Atif, Sana and Samreen, he added.

Police said the girl was subsequently confined to the premises and subjected to repeated sexual abuse. When she begged Sabiya Begum to let her go, she was told that the three persons who brought her had been given money in exchange for handing her over.

AKT explained that Nadeem, Kaifuddin and Ali Bin Akram facilitated the movement of customers and managed arrangements at the premises.

The girl managed to escape from the brothel on October 5 and returned home, where she told her family about her ordeal. Subsequently, a complaint was filed with the Tolichowki police.

After investigation, police teams tracked down and arrested all the eight accused on October 9. Six mobile phones and an autorickshaw with registration number TS 30 T 8350 were recovered.

The case was registered under the provisions of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), including those relating to kidnapping, trafficking, illegal imprisonment, rape and criminal conspiracy, along with relevant sections of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offenses Act (POCSO) and the Immoral Traffic (Prevention) Act.

The police said that the accused trafficked the girl for financial gain, while the respective roles of those involved and the monetary transactions are being investigated.

The accused were produced before the court for further trial.
