“The protestors have been detained. We are here to save democracy. This is a fight between autocracy and democracy. This fight is not over. Gyanesh Kumar will be thrown out of his seat,” a protester’s police bus said after he was detained.
The leadership of SFI-Democratic Youth Federation of India (DYFI) planned to take out a rally from AK Gopalan Bhawan in Gole Market towards Jantar Mantar.
Before the demonstration, security measures were tightened outside the building.
The CJP also claimed on Saturday (October 10, 2026) that its leaders Abhijeet Dipke, Saurav Das and Ashutosh Ranka were detained by the Delhi Police from inside the plane shortly after their flight landed in the national capital.
On Friday evening (October 9), the organization said that Delhi Police personnel visited HKS Surjeet Bhawan to search for protesters planning to take part in Saturday’s demonstration.
The office of the Central Executive Committee of SFÚ is located in the same building. SFI President Mr. Saji, DYFI President AA Rahim, CPI(M) Politburo members Arunkumar and Vijoo Krishnan and other leaders were present there at that time.
AA Rahim, Rajya Sabha MP along with all detained activists from SFI announced Jantar Mantar 2.0 at Nangloi Stadium. He went on a hunger strike demanding action and an apology from Inspector Pawan Tomar, who misbehaved with female students, and the return of all phones and bags illegally stolen by the Delhi Police.
