‘Undeclared Emergency’: Sonam Wangchuk warns of swift march if leaders detained in Delhi not released by tomorrow | Today’s news

Activist Sonam on Saturday described the situation in India as an “undeclared emergency” after several political leaders and activists, including former West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee, Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) chief Arvind Kejriwal and All India Students Association (AISA) president Neh Bora, were detained in India ahead of a proposed protest against Chief Kumar (CEC) Gjana Delhi.

Wangchuk warned that he might consider an indefinite fast or march if the detainees were not released by Sunday, October 11. His remarks came amid heavy security deployment in the capital as the Cockroach Janta Party (CJP) called for a demonstration at Jantar Mantar. The protest was planned to demand Kumar’s resignation over alleged irregularities in the electoral roll.

“INDIA UNDER UNDEclared EMERGENCY… When I posted a message yesterday calling for unity and peace at today’s protest, I never imagined that the world’s largest democracy would be under an undeclared state of emergency,” Wangchuk said on X.

He added, “I was happy that the movement was led by so many leaders, but now I learn that they have all been arrested. I hope these arrestees will be released soon. I will be forced to consider Anshan Fast or Padyatra March if they are not released by tomorrow.”
