Appropriations sanctioned to three corporations for property tax
The Telangana government has sanctioned ₹1,686.39 crore for settlement of long pending property tax arrears on government lands falling under the limits of Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC), Cyberabad Municipal Corporation (CMC) and Malkajgiri Municipal Corporation (MMC) through One Time Settlement (OTS) scheme.
The sanction was issued by the Metropolitan Area and Urban Development Department (MA&UD) on Wednesday. The order follows an earlier decision by the government approving the implementation of the OTS system for the financial year 2026-2027 and offers a 100% waiver of accrued interest and penalties on unpaid property taxes related to government properties.
Under this scheme, the government will clear the arrears through respective installments within one year to the concerned municipal corporations. On May 26, the Finance Department had already issued budget release orders for the amount under the release of treasury control and quarterly regulatory orders.
Out of the total amount sanctioned, ₹1,585.41 crore was allocated to GHMC, ₹24.87 crore to CMC and ₹76.11 crore to MMC to clear property tax arrears.
