568 projects proposed under UDF govt’s 100-day action plan implemented, says Kerala chief minister

Kerala Chief Minister VD Satheesan on Friday said his government has successfully completed 568 of the 588 projects planned under the 100-day action plan launched on July 1 this year. The Chief Minister also announced a second government ‘mission’ christened ‘Janasparsham’ – ‘File Adalat’, which runs from October 15 to December 31 to clear the backlog of files. “Within 100 days, the government was able to settle many issues that remained unresolved,” Satheesan said. Progress on the remaining 20 projects exceeded 90%.

Commenting on the ongoing works, Mr. Satheesan said that 39 out of 42 projects were completed in Electronics and IT Department, 29 out of 30 in Public Works Department, 19 out of 20 in Local Government Department, 21 out of 23 projects in Water Resources Department, 26 out of 32 projects in Home and Family Department29344

“The departments cannot be blamed for the delay. In the case of the Ministry of the Interior, for example, there was a delay in the arrival of equipment for the Fire and Rescue Service from Finland. All actions have been completed,” he said. “The fact that we have been able to complete 96.5% of the projects gives the government confidence to take up and complete more projects,” he said.

Initially, the government had targeted 602 projects, but some were removed after a review, the chief minister said. The government has opened a portal for real-time monitoring of projects.

New mission

The Janasparsham File Adalat will give priority to long pending files and those requiring urgent attention, the Chief Minister said. The backlog includes 2.76 million e-files. Adalats are a step toward data-driven management and make a big difference in file movement, he said.
