Andhra DGP orders advanced planning and security for local body elections
Director General of Police (DGP) Harish Kumar Gupta on Friday (October 9, 2026) directed senior officials of the department to lay emphasis on advanced planning for resource mobilization and identification of trouble makers to ensure fair and peaceful conduct of local body elections.
Addressing a meeting of Superintendents of Police in Rayalaseema region, the DGP directed them to keep an eye on the movement of liquor, cash, goodies and arms under their jurisdiction.
Apart from offering enhanced surveillance in problem-prone villages and sensitive stalls, Mr. Gupta told the chief inspectors to take preventive measures against thieves and rowdies.
He advocated the need to embrace technology and wanted them to bring the situation under their control by making liberal use of the services of drone cameras, CCTV network and command control system.
The DGP advised them to conduct ‘Palle Nidra’, ‘Grama Sabha’ and cordon and search operations in sensitive wards/villages to identify and clear the localities of anti-social elements.
