Answers SC: “Think that this may be stopped by law”
When Ka Paul raised the matter in court, Judge Kant noted that people “do these things voluntarily”. He said the court supported that online betting should be stopped, but there is a “misconception that it can be stopped by law.”
“This problem dealt with this court… What can we do? In principle, we should be stopped with you … But you are probably under the misconception that it can be prevented by law. Just as we cannot prevent people from murder, despite the law,” Judge Kant was quoted by the living law.
When Ka Paul said, “God agrees (online betting),” justice Kant said that “cricket” knows that “there are thousands of betting in the name of IPL.
The judge stated that the court “asks the Union what he is doing”.
The Supreme Court judges then issued a notice to the Indian Association. “The notification for all states, if necessary, will be issued later,” the court said, adding that “nothing can be done in the meantime.”
