Tata Consultancy Services Ltd (TCS) on Friday (Oct 9, 2026) said it will comply with any directive from the US government to continue doing business in the country, saying the latest suspension of the Permanent Labor Certification (PERM) program will not affect its workforce strategy or customer engagement.

The statement comes after the US on Thursday (Oct 8, 2026) suspended several IT firms, including Tata, from the PERM program that allows companies to apply for green cards for H-1B visa workers. Other companies named were Cognizant, Infosys, Wipro, HCL, Capgemini, Microsoft and Adobe.

“Our PERM applications have been in the single digits for the past two years and therefore we do not expect the suspension of the program to impact our workforce strategy and customer engagement,” TCS said in a statement. A permanent labor certification issued by the Department of Labor (DOL) allows an employer to hire a foreign worker to work permanently in the US

In an earlier announcement, the firm said it intended to hire an additional 15,000 people in the US over the next five years, “to further strengthen the local workforce”.

“Our US workforce strategy is anchored in hiring local talent, supported by a robust campus recruiting model. We have built a significant local workforce in 31 offices and delivery centers across the country,” the statement said.
