Condolences are pouring in from Andhra for Nana Patekar

Condolences poured in on the death of veteran actor and producer Nana Patekar on Thursday.

Andhra Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu, Deputy Chief Minister K. Pawan Kalyan, IT and HRD Minister Nara Lokesh, Tourism and Cinematography Minister Kandula Durgesh and Andhra Pradesh Congress Committee (APCC) President YS Sharmila among others condoled the death of the actor and recalled his remarkable contribution to Indian cinema.

Mr Naidu said he was deeply saddened by the demise of Nana Patekar. “His remarkable performances and immense contribution to Indian cinema will be remembered for generations,” he wrote on X, offering his heartfelt condolences to the actor’s family, friends and countless admirers.

Mr. Lokesh recalled Nana Patekar’s contribution to Indian cinema. According to him, Patekar’s distinctive acting and memorable performances have earned him a special place among Indian film personalities.

Cinema Minister Kandula Durgesh described Patekar’s sudden demise as deeply painful. He said that the actor, who has won recognition for his performances in Hindi and several other languages, has rendered excellent services to the film industry. The death of the Padma Shri awardee was an irreparable loss to Indian cinema, he said.

APCC President YS Sharmila expressed her condolences to Patekar’s family, friends and admirers and recalled his extraordinary contribution to the film industry and his memorable performances.

The Andhra Pradesh Film Development Corporation (APFDC) paid lavish tributes to Nana Patekar and noted filmmaker Singeetam Srinivas Rao at a board meeting in Vijayawada on Thursday.

APFDC Chairman P. Bharat Bhushan, Managing Director K. Viswanathan and board members decorated the portraits of the two film personalities and commemorated their contribution to Indian cinema.

They said that Patekar has created a distinct identity through his strong and versatile performances, portraying various characters with natural ease. Singeetam Srinivasa Rao, they said, left an indelible mark on Telugu cinema by making innovative and experimental films and bringing recognition to Indian filmmaking through his creativity and directorial skills.
