Indian Railways has canceled Mail and Express trains scheduled to arrive at New Delhi and Hazrat Nizamuddin railway stations on 10 October between 4:00 am and 2:00 pm, citing the likelihood of severe traffic congestion around both stations.

According to a railway order issued on October 9, trains departing from originating stations after 14:00 on Friday and arriving at one of the two stations between 04:00 and 14:00 on Saturday will be canceled at the originating stations, Times of India reported.

Meanwhile, the Delhi Police has warned against the proposed Cockroach Janata Party (CJP) protest on October 10, saying Section 163 is in force in the capital and any unauthorized assembly would be considered illegal.

Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) Shrishti Pandey said protests will not be allowed at Jantar Mantar or any other place as long as the restrictions remain in place. She warned that the police would take legal action against unauthorized gatherings.

“Section 163 is in force, which means protests are not allowed – neither in Jantar Mantar nor anywhere else. Any assembly will be considered illegal and we would be forced to take necessary legal action against it,” Pandey said.

The DCP appealed to the people not to participate in the proposed demonstration and asked them to prioritize their safety and that of their families.

“I would like to call on the protesters not to take part in such illegal gatherings. Also prioritize your own safety. Think about your family’s safety as well,” she said.

Pandey also warned that taking part in an unauthorized protest could have long-term legal consequences and urged those who want to voice their concerns to follow the appropriate legal process.

Crime Branch is investigating the July 20 CJP protest violence

Separately, the Delhi Crime Branch has launched an inquiry into the violence that broke out during the CJP’s protest in New Delhi on July 20 and registered a case under various sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), sources said.

According to Crime Branch sources, the investigation will examine the role of those allegedly responsible for the violence and whether it was premeditated. Investigators will also look into whether criminal elements entered the protest sites after the CJP called for a march to Parliament, officials said.

The investigation will involve 2,873 suspects identified through Facial Recognition System (FRS) data collected by the Crime Branch of the Delhi Police who have a criminal history, officials added.

The Delhi Police has already quashed 17 FIRs related to the July violence on the directions of the Supreme Court. The coroner’s office will now specifically investigate cases of violence, including alleged attacks on police officers, vandalism and destruction of public property, including police vehicles.
