The government must look after the common people, says CPI’s Veerapandian
While it is unfair to expect positive changes within four months of the new regime assuming office, the government should also pay heed to the concerns of the common people and not rely solely on bureaucrats to decide public policies, CPI State Secretary M.Veerapandian said in Hosur on Thursday. He spoke to the media on the sidelines of the party leadership meeting.
The CPI leader emphasized that the Left does not support TVK for government but for democracy and that the party will always unite with the common people. There were many constituencies including sanitation workers, road workers, nurses, government doctors and teachers, rural road network workers whose demands and needs were not met but were part of the survey promises. It is the duty of the government to keep these promises, the CPI leader said.
On the controversy over the use of Hindi on medicine packaging in government hospitals, the CPI leader said that while the party was open to respecting all languages, it strongly opposed the Union government’s move to introduce Hindi in any form (according to state health minister Arunraj, the medicine packaging was procured by the former DMK regime).
