The Charminar Zone police registered 27 cases against 51 people for violating sound restrictions and disturbing public order during Ganesh festival celebrations in Hyderabad this year. The police also seized 68 loudspeakers and 21 amplifiers used in violation of the prescribed guidelines.

According to DCP Charminar zone, Kiran Khare, the violators were identified using CCTV footage and field monitoring conducted during the festival. These were mainly the use of DJ sound systems, excessively loud music and activities causing public nuisance.

All 51 persons were subsequently summoned to the DCP office where they were counseled and warned against repeating such violations during religious festivals and public gatherings.

DCP Khare along with the Additional DCP directed the policemen to ensure that the public celebrations are conducted peacefully without causing any inconvenience to the residents.

The DCP also appealed to the youth and festival organizers to refrain from using excessively loud sound systems and cooperate with the police in maintaining public safety and harmony in the municipality.

“Celebration is everyone’s right but public safety is everyone’s responsibility. Charminar Zone Police will stand by the public but violation of law and safety norms will not be allowed. Let’s celebrate with dedication, discipline and responsibility,” the officer said.
