
The legendary midfielder Real Madrid Luka Modric will end his trophy career in the La League Club after the upcoming FIFA Club World Championship, and 39 -year -old Croatian confirmed Thursday. Winner 2018 Ballon d’Or and the most decorated player in the club’s history joined Modric to Los Blancos in 2012 and since then gathered almost 600 performances, won almost 30 main trophies – including the record six UEFA Champions League and La Liga.
Modric’s farewell in Santiago Bernaba comes this Saturday when Real Madrid hosts Real Sociedad in their latest La Liga season before signing off next month during the World Cup campaign.
He wrote in the sincere news for Modric fans: “Dear Madrid fans, it was time. The moment I never wanted to come, but that’s football and my life has a beginning and end … I’ll play my last match in Santiago Bernaba on Saturday.”
When Modric, he thought about his journey from Tottenham Hotspur to the Spanish capital, he added: “I arrived in 2012 with a desire to wear the best team in the world as Ambitions to do great things, but I can’t imagine what went on.
Modric has been at the heart of Real Madrid’s success in Europe for the past 13 years, known for its vision, skill and persistent work ethics. His permanent leadership and control on Wednesday played a key role in many of the most memorable victories and comebacks of the club.
“I am proud to be part of one of the most successful era of the best club in history,” he said, before he thanked the President of the Florentino Pres, teammates, coaches and employees who supported him during his career.
“During these years I have experienced incredible moments, comebacks that looked impossible, finals, celebrations and magic nights in Bernab … We won everything and I was very happy. Very happy.”
Modric has reserved his most emotional honor for fans and described the bond he shares with them as something in words.
“In addition to the titles and victory, I wear the affection of all fans in Madrid. I really don’t know how to explain the special connection I have with you, and how I supported, respect and loved that I felt and felt.
When he is preparing for departure, Modric says he does so “full of heart”, overflowing with pride, gratitude and unforgettable memories. And although he will no longer wear an iconic white shirt on the pitch, he explained where his heart would always lie:
