The Karingachira-Thiruvankulam section of NH 85 is to be widened to 14 metres

The Karingachira-Thiruvankulam section of National Highway 85 will be widened to 14 metres, Food and Civil Supplies Minister Anoop Jacob said.

This will help facilitate free left turns at the Thiruvankulam Junction bottleneck. Besides, a 20-metre wide roundabout will be constructed at the intersection to allow smooth flow of vehicles in different directions without traffic signals, he said at a meeting of officials of the National Highways Authority of India and other concerned agencies on Thursday.

Steps will also be taken to construct the Chitrapuzha-Mamala Bund Road, Mr. Jacob said in a release.
