BJP tells Revanth to focus on farmers’ issues, not Delhi protest
The Telangana BJP on Thursday slammed Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy and his cabinet colleagues for traveling to Delhi to protest the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls while “ignoring the problems faced by farmers due to power cuts and water scarcity”.
Addressing a press conference at the party’s state office, party chief spokesperson NV Subash mocked the chief minister for talking about democracy and electoral rights and alleged that Mr. Revanth Reddy had undermined the sanctity of the electoral process with his involvement in the 2015 ‘Vote for Note’ case.
Mr. Subash also questioned the inability of the Congress government to act on several issues raised against the previous Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) government and demanded to know why no action was taken against the alleged land encroachment of former Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao’s farm in Erravelli and in cases related to the Kaleshwaram Lift portal with alleged sheep irrigation, distribution of Dharani land irrigation records. scheme and power purchase deals.
The BJP leader alleged that both the Congress government and the previous BRS regime tried to suppress dissent and silence opposition voices with BJP leaders often preventing them from holding protests on issues of public importance through police restrictions. He urged the government to focus on issues related to farmers instead of engaging in “politically motivated” protests.
