DGP asks police to use drones and increase intelligence in Godavari villages ahead of local polls

Andhra Pradesh Director General of Police Harish Kumar Gupta on Wednesday (October 7, 2026) asked police officials to monitor villages and improve intelligence network on the ground ahead of local body elections in Godavari region.

The meeting was attended by Inspector General Eluru Range GVG Ashok Kumar, Superintendents of Police East Godavari, Kakinada, Dr. BR Ambedkar Konaseema and Eluru and DSP districts of the region.

Addressing officials here on election preparedness, Mr. Gupta said, “Sensitive villages should be under drone surveillance and vigilance to avoid any untoward incident and an action plan should be prepared for strong election security.”

Officials have been told to visit villages and gather more information and inputs to deal with any situation.

Mr. Gupta asked them to strengthen their resources in the villages and collect details of key issues in each village. He also asked SZ to involve volunteers from National Cadet Corps (NCC) and National Service Scheme (NSS) in the elections.
