The nose of an IndiGo plane was found damaged after landing at Lucknow airport, suspected to be a lightning strike

An IndiGo flight operating flight 6E925 from Patna to Lucknow was found to have sustained damage to its nose section after landing at Lucknow airport on Wednesday (October 7, 2026), with all 104 passengers on board safe, officials said.
“The aircraft landed normally around 4 pm and no injuries were reported. The damage was noticed by the airport team after landing, after which the IndiGo team was informed and the aircraft was declared Aircraft on Ground (AOG),” an official told PTI, citing preliminary information.
“The plane is undergoing a technical inspection and other necessary actions. As part of the preliminary assessment, the possibility of the plane colliding with lightning in adverse weather conditions is being examined,” added the airport representative.
More technical details will be shared by the airline once the investigation is complete, the source said.
The incident did not involve an emergency landing and the aircraft landed normally at Lucknow airport, the source added.
