The World Cup record under Harmanpreet had several near misses before India finally got there. India lost the T20 World Cup final in 2020 under their captaincy, followed by a semi-final appearance in 2023 and a group stage exit in 2024.In 2025, India defeated Australia in the semi-finals, with Harmanpreet’s 89 setting up a place in the final.
