Female sanitary inspector arrested for fake death certificate for widow’s pension
In a shocking incident, a woman allegedly forged her living husband’s death certificate to claim widow’s pension.
Hailing from Kanuru village in Krishna district, Yeramsetti Rama Devi was separated from her husband Murali Krishna and was living alone due to some family disputes. The accused is said to have approached Health Inspector D. Antony and asked him to produce a fake death certificate for her husband so that he could apply for widow’s pension.
The sanitary inspector allegedly accepted a bribe of ₹15,000 and issued the death certificate.
Based on a complaint filed by Tadigada municipal officials, the Penamaluru police registered a case and arrested the two, Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) K. Jaya Krishna told The Hindu Gannavaram on Tuesday. “On Tuesday, we arrested Ramu Devi and Sanitary Inspector Antony and produced them in court. The accused have been remanded in judicial custody,” the DSP said.
