KPS Dodda Alahalli renamed after Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar’s late father
Karnataka Public School located at Dodda Alahalli of Kanakapura Taluk, Bengaluru South District has been renamed after the late father of Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar DK Kempegowda.
The Karnataka Public School (KPS) located at Dodda Alahalli of Kanakapura Taluk, Bengaluru South district has been renamed after Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar’s late father DK Kempegowda.
The state government issued an order to rename KPS Dodd Alahalli as “Shri DK Kempegowda Karnataka Public School”.
The government has set criteria for getting donations from corporate bodies, non-governmental organizations (NGOs) and other donors for the new Karnataka public schools it plans to set up. Accordingly, organizations and individuals who have contributed can name the schools they have built after themselves if they wish.
Ningamma, wife of late Dodda Kempegowd, donated three acres and 20 guntas of land to KPS at Dodda Alahalli.
In this context, Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar has recommended the School Education Department to name this KPS as Shri DK Kempegowda Karnataka Public School.
Accordingly, the project director of Samagra Shikshan Karnataka submitted a proposal to the government for permission to rename the school after DK Kempegowda from 2026-27.
