Wipro Circle in Hyderabad’s financial district will be renamed Dr. Manmohan Singh Circle

After naming the Aramghar-Zoo Park flyover after former Prime Minister Manmohan Singh, another prominent Hyderabad landmark will bear his name, with Wipro Circle in the financial district to be renamed Dr. Manmohan Singh Circle.
The Cyberabad Municipal Corporation (CMC) in its 8th regular meeting held on Monday, October 5 approved a proposal to rename the existing Wipro Circle as “Dr. Manmohan Singh Circle”. The proposal was approved under Section 137 of the Core Urban Region (Integrated Governance) Act, 2026.
The CMC also approved a proposal to rename the adjoining 2.97-acre park developed by the Hyderabad Metropolitan Development Authority (HMDA) as “Dr. Manmohan Singh Memorial Park”. A statue of the former Prime Minister was recently unveiled at the park by Telangana Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy.
The name proposal was one of several points that the civic council dealt with at its meeting. The CMC also approved a proposal to create a Special Purpose Vehicle (SPV), Durgam Cheruvu Lakefront Development Company (DCDC), for the integrated development and rejuvenation of the Durgam Cheruvu waterfront. Around 140 acres across the Durgam Cheruvu Lake have been identified for the proposed development and the proposal will be recommended to the government.
Among the approved infrastructure proposals was the ₹5.95 crore Strategic Nala Development Program (SNDP) project to construct the remaining section of the box drain from Trendz Junior to Vashinavi Pride Apartment, connecting it to the existing box that forms part of the Gaffor Nagar junction to the Durgam Cheruvu entrance square project. The civic body also approved the construction of Gajularamaram Circle office building next to Oxygen Park on Lalsabguda Road. The project was estimated at ₹5.18 crore.
The CMC further approved the development of a model road from Hindu-Muslim Cemetery to Allwyn Colony Circle Border in Allwyn Colony. The project was estimated at ₹2.95 crore. In another major proposal, the civic body approved the rejuvenation and development of the Chintal Kunta Lake. The ₹ 21.59 crore project includes desilting, embankment protection, water quality restoration and construction of box drain to Narlakunta Lake via Shuraksha Meadows Colony in Bahadurpally.
Among other items taken with the chairman’s permission, the CMC approved the construction of a box cricket sports arena near PJR Flyover at Gachibowli Junction under CSR by Arcesium India Private Limited, along with directional signage near the flyover and signs at the sports arena with the CSR logo.
A proposal to lay a BT road from Bandamkomm to Lalabai Colony in Ameenpur Municipality was also approved. The project, which has been taken up under TUFIDC loan assistance and covers the erstwhile Ameenpur and Bollaram municipalities merged into CMC, has been estimated at over ₹5 crore in two installments, subject to availability of funds and compliance with applicable rules, regulations and financial procedures.
