
English coach Brendon McCullum wants his party to focus on the stars because he will prepare for the decisive year in 2025 with the series India and the Ashes series on the horizon. McCullum and his Bazball Mantra revolutionized the English cricket because they won 22 out of 35 tests under it.
Now they go against the Indian team in the home seriesfrom June 20. Despite retiring Rohit Sharma and Virata Kohli, India remains a strength and England still has to beat them in the test series. The same is true that Australia, because the ashes will take place this year. These two tasks will be essential for England in their new cycle in England.
McCullum said he was no longer trying to pick up this team and wanted them to become a party to which the English could be proud of. The English coach feels that his party has the best chance to go to Australia and create good performance under clear lights.
“We’re no longer trying to pick up this team. It’s the question that this team from a good team is something that English people are really proud of,” said McCullum BBC Radio 5 Live Cricket Show.
“We’re actually traveling quite well, but now there’s an opportunity,” McCullum added. “We work from the position of strength, but now there is the time we shoot at the stars.”
“There is no more opportunity than playing in a big series against the best opposition on the largest scene under the brightest lights to try it.”
McCullum pleased Stokes Return
McCullum was glad that after his lengthy release of the injury, Captain Ben Stokes welcomed the team. The English coach said Stokes is a controlled player who pushes his teammates to win at all costs.
“He (Stokes) is incredibly controlled, pushing, pushing his teammates, winning at all costs,” McCullum said.
“We are very lucky to have him in a chair because he will be very strong when trying to move this team to the next level.”
England and India will play 5 tests with the first match in headingley.
