The construction of Vaduthala railway bridge, Perandoor-Vaduthala bridge will start on 7th October
The inauguration of the construction of Vaduthala railway flyover and Perandoor-Vaduthala bridge will be held on October 7. Public Works Minister PK Basheer will inaugurate the construction. The projects are expected to ease traffic congestion in Ernakulam city, according to the statement.
The new bridge being built over the Perandoor canal to connect Vaduthala and Perandoor will serve as a key transport link and allow people to travel quickly from Container Road via Vaduthala to Kaloor, bypassing the congested national highway.
An administrative sanction of ₹34.24 crore was given for the project. Under the revised arrangement, about 34 cents of land was acquired in the Perandoor area and 55 cents in the Vaduthala area. The proposed bridge will have a total length of 153.6 meters and a total width of 11 meters.
It will feature a 7.5 meter wide carriageway flanked by 1.5 meter wide sidewalks on both sides. The project implementation period is two years.
A financial sanction of ₹ 91.89 crore has been obtained in the case of Vaduthala rail flyover, which is being constructed at level crossing number 69 in Ernakulam constituency. The total length of the overpass is 372.78 meters. The bridge will have an overall width of 10.15 meters and will include a 7.5 meter wide carriageway and a 1.50 meter wide footpath on one side.
The project is also expected to help reduce the risk of accidents. Once the Vaduthala railway bridge and the Perandoor-Vaduthala bridge become a reality, connectivity between Vaduthala, Perandoor, Pachalam, Chittoor and surrounding areas will be enhanced, according to the release.
