
Minister of Public Works PA Mohammad Riyas on Sunday 18th May began construction of an overpass in Chervannur near Feroke. The project, which aims to mitigate the transport overload at the Chervavur intersection, develops within the project to improve the city road at estimated costs of 89 GBP, including land acquisition.
The overview will take 700 meters and 16 meters wide, with 5.5 meters wide service roads on both sides. The space under the overpass is planned to turn into playgrounds and gardens.
Around 30 Crore has already been spent to obtain land. The construction is carried out by the company of the cooperative company Uralungal Labor Cooperative and is under the supervision of the Board of Board of Kerala Road Fund. The project is expected to be completed by the end of the year.
At his inauguration address Mr. Riyas said that work on the overpass Meenchand – Areekerkkad would also start soon, which further improved the traffic flow towards the town of Kozhikode.
“We built 16 new bridges in the Kozhikode district and reconstructed six. In addition, it is currently under construction of 17 bridges. Special attention is paid to the areas under these bridges well,” the minister said.
