Ranga Reddy DMHO in the ACB network for accepting a bribe of ₹1,000

Ranga Reddy District Health and Medical Officer Swarna Kumari, Health Inspector M. Srinivas and driver Maddurikrishnaiah along with the seized money.

Ranga Reddy District Medical Officer and Health Officer (DMHO) and Health Inspector were on Monday nabbed by the Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) in a bribery case involving a physiotherapy center where a private person allegedly accepted ₹100,000 for them.

According to the ACB, DMHO Swarna Kumari and Health Inspector M. Srinivas allegedly demanded ₹2,000 from the complainant for returning the keys of the physiotherapy centre, which was seized for operating without a DMHO licence, for not taking further action against the center and for issuing a new licence.

Maddurikrishnaiah, identified as Srinivas’ private driver, allegedly demanded money on the instructions of two officials and accepted Rs 1 lakh from the complainant on Monday, the agency said.

A bribe amount of ₹1 lakh was recovered from the possession of Maddurikrishnaiah at his instance.

The ACB alleged that Swarna Kumari and Srinivas acted improperly and dishonestly in the discharge of their duties to gain an undue advantage.

All the three accused were produced before the First Additional Special Judge for SPE and ACB cases in Nampally for judicial remand.

The case is under investigation, the identity and other details of the complainant have been withheld for security reasons.
